The first of November I was asked to put together our ward Christmas party, sure no big deal I thought. Well after talking to my bishop, he was very excited for it and had really high expectations for this event, what was the word he used, he wanted what ever I did to become tradition. What! Yeah so I was a little nervous for that. With the help of a a few girls and the support of my wonderful Husband it turned out really nice.
Looking on pinterest I loved all the fun Christmas decor that hung from the ceiling, but it was really hard to think about that when the setting was in a church gym. So we got fish line and hung it diagonal in the gym and hung the stars and snow flakes from that. Snow flakes were from the dollar store and I made the stars from this tutorial, using 6x6 and 12x12 paper. I loved the way they turned out.
We went with pincones and wreaths for our centerpieces and holiday ribbon through out.
My original thoughts were to have one really big tree, but since that didn't happen I was able to round up 3 little ones and it ended up looking nice. The primary kids had made salt dough ornaments the week before the party, and we used one of the trees to for their ornaments. After the party they were able to take them home.
We had soup in bread bowls, salad and finger food for dinner
The program was simple, we had the Youth, primary, and our ward sing a few Christmas songs. Then Santa made his grand entrance. Yeah he could have been a little better and wore the beard the right way, but I was just grateful he said yes, it was amazing how many people turned me down for the part!
Since we don't have very many ward parties these days, I really tried hard to not have a lot on the program and to leave room for socializing. I was happy with how it turned out and extremely happy for it to be over!
