Nashvill Country Music Marathon

4.27.13
St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville TN
This race was anything, but easy. .. From the beginning about a month before the race I found out Nate had to work the Friday and Sunday shift of the marathon weekend (Which was on a Saturday . So before I left for Nashville on Friday afternoon I had to find a place for all my kids to stay until Saturday morning when Nate could pick them up. Thank goodness I have really great friends who were more than happy to take my children over night.
I met my friend Ashley in Nashville and stayed with her at her moms house the night before. We get to the race and it was sprinkling rain, not too bad.  We tried to stay dry for as long as we could, then it was almost time for the race to start. So we went to the starting line and then the rain started to come down as in a down pour. And NEVER stopped. It was a complete down pour the ENTIRE 26.2 miles.

These were the pictures from Nates phone as he was checking on me from a far.

Ashley and I right before the race
not only did it down pour, the course was very hilly and I played a mind game with my self the whole race, telling myself to keep going. Seriously, running a marathon is more mentally challenging then it is physically. There are no after pictures since all I wanted to do was get in a warm car and get my soaking wet clothes off me.

This is my water logged foot, I was a human prune!
Ok so looking back, it was wet, it was uncomfortable, I didn't get the time I was hoping for, but I am still glad I did it and was able to run with my friend and now I know I can do just about any marathon, because this was probably the worst condition to run in. Over all me and 20,500 other crazy people finished this race. And I will be back to do this one again and beat my time!
Thanks to my amazing husband who supports me in my crazy endeavors
