In 1607, 13 years before the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts, a group of 104 English men and boys began a settlement on the banks of Virginia's James River. They were sponsored by the Virginia Company of London, whose stockholders hoped to make a profit from the resources of the New World. The community suffered terrible hardships in its early years, but managed to endure, earning the distinction of being America's first permanent English colony.
So I copied this from a web page, but I thought it was a good description of Jamestown. It was a neat place that showed how the settlers lived and traded with the Indians (remember the story of Pocahontas) yep this is where it all took place. It was really neat they had a lot of hands on for children to understand it better and replicas of their forts, the Indians houses and the ships that they sailed on, the ships were my favorite by far.

Williamsburg is so big we weren't able to see it all i one day so we come back and toured the Governors Palace and grounds,( it was quite the place).

What a little trooper, we dragged him from place to place all week long, while he took cat naps in his stroller and still by the end of the day he looks like this. What a cutie!
