IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER?

Ok so this weather has been crazy after hearing and reading about the west getting so much snow, I come to realize that I would rather be here than getting dumped on. But we have had some crazy weather here in Kentucky! Last week we were freezing cold wearing winter coats and beanies anytime we would step outside and then all of the sudden wearing a long sleeve shirt was making you sweat. Yeah I am not complaining about the warm weather, what I am annoyed with is the change in weather over night! You would think Kentucky was going through menapause having hot sweats and then chills all in the same week. This is something you all that live here can relate to. Although last night I wished I was in Utah getting snowed in.

We have had some pretty good storms since I have lived here, but last night was the one that worried me the most. At about 12:30 a.m. I heard the tornado sirens going off just faintly. They went off for only a few minutes. Then nothing, then all the sudden the wind started blowing really hard, rain pounding at the window and the sirens started getting louder and louder. I got up to look out the window and you couldnt see a darn thing. Normally I just love to hear the thunder and rain during the night, but last night I was worried sick. I kept thinking I need to get Cooper and Nate and go downstairs until the storm passed.( I dont know if its because now we have Cooper and I didnt want anything to happen to him or it was just a really bad storm.) Well I didnt do anything and finally the sirens went off and the storm finally passed and I was able to go back to sleep. Only to find out this morning that everyone was warned to get in their basements and stay there until the storm passed, boy and I glad nothing happened. Well come to find out the tornado touched down about 30 minutes away from our house leaving damaged homes and about 30 to 50 tornados swept across the southern states leaving several dead and many injured. I feel pretty fortunate that we werent affected and that all of our friends were safe as well. Those that were affected are in my thoughts and prayers. Next time I will listen to my gut feeling and get my family in a safe place even if nothing happens at least I will be able to sleep better at night. I guess it is possible to have tornados in the middle of winter.

I'm glad you are doing ok Sarah. My sister in law lives in Memphis and they had crazy storms and sirens all night too. Luckily you are all safe! Take care.

I know excactly what you mean. The day we brought Ella home from the Hospital we had a terrible strom. We could barely hear the tornado sirens. We had never thought of what we would do in that situation even though here in Oklahoma it seems the sirens go off twice a month. It makes it seem more dangerous when you have a baby to protect. Glad all is okay.

I thought of you and your little family out there when all that was going on. I'm so glad you are safe. How scary! That was a funny analogy with the weather, made me laugh!

Thanks for your comment and ideas, I loved all the ideas I have received. I know it seems crazy that I'll be looking for things to do in the day, but one whole saturday alone with the WHOLE day to ourselves was so different for us! It'll be a good break this summer, and now I'm getting more excited for it and all the great ideas I got from everyone!

I hate it when the sirens go off. We've only had that happen once since we've been in Kansas, but it scares me to death. I know what you mean about the crazy weather!! And Steve does remember your husband from the MTC...what a small world. :)

I know how you feel. I live in Oklahoma and we have had the same weather that you have been having. There have been many times in the middle of the night that they sirens here have gone off and I always wonder what i should have done after the storm has left.
